I
have a **bad** audio and I don't know how to clean it up....... Any
suggestion?
On Express Scribe, I can adjust the “tone” and the speed to make a bad audio a bit easier to read, but I don't know if this is possible on what you're using or not.
My suggestion takes time and may cost money.
First, right click on your speaker in the Task Bar and click on Open Volume Control. There is a Balance bar that you can adjust. Sometimes if you make the sound more treble or more bass it helps.
Next, I connect speakers to the computer that also have bass/treble control and adjust them.
With this method, you have to keep adjusting both controls and testing it, which is the time consuming part. Speakers will cost about $30 to $50.
Sometimes I even connect the speakers to my transcriber and adjust the bass/treble control through there also.
Last I plug headphones into the speakers or transcriber and strain to hear what's going on and end up with a major headache at the end of the day and vow I'll never do that again.
You might want to try an audio filter. I have a Koss EQ50 3 Band Stereo Equalizer. You can get it at Radio Shack for around $20, I think. I used to use mine on my transcriber when I'd get bad analog tapes. Since I mostly use digital audio now, I haven't had any reason to use it. I don't know if it would be redundant to what's already on your computer audio settings. A call to Radio Shack would probably answer that.
If you have some way of hooking up an equalizer to the speaker jack in your computer, that will probably help some if you set the treble tones to the lowest setting that will still allow you to hear the speaking voices. KOSS makes a pretty good equalizer (appx. $20) that is battery-operated. The intended use of the KOSS equalizer is for use with stereo headphones, which works well for our line of work. The link is www.koss.com, and the equalizer is listed under "accessories."
Also, try a reboot of your computer, as this has worked for me before.
Sometimes .wav files get "scrambled" through a WhaleMail or similar process, and it may be necessary to get your CR to do another upload.
